BIOPETRA is a student-led initiative from HUIT (Faculty of Biology and Environmental Science) driven by a passion for sustainability.

We focus on leveraging biotechnologies to develop practical solutions that reduce environmental impact. Our goal is to apply biological processes to solve real-world challenges—ranging from creating eco-friendly materials and resilient coastal defenses to supporting broader ecosystem restoration. We believe that applied science and nature-based solutions are the foundations for a sustainable future.
